cover // uncover
Due to all these endless magazine covers with women, smiling or yearning into the camera and showing off their bodies, it seems pretty normal nowadays to reveal a lot of yourself, at least a lot of your skin and desires. Besides that, we take and post selfies all the time and are so aware of the image we can create of ourselves.
But how much of ourselves are we actually really showing here? And what are we actually really comfortable with? To me, it seems the greater uncovered part is so much harder to show and to dis-cover. We all feel the need to hide parts as well, probably the parts that need most of our attention, or love and care maybe.
To play around with these just mentioned themes of showing off and hiding, I worked with existing magazines and gave the women on the cover a bit of a veil, a layer to cover themselves up in case they felt the need of some protection here.
